Raul Garcia

Raul Garcia is an Audit Director at PAAST, P.L. He specializes in the provision of attestation services for financial institutions. His experience working with financial institutions includes internal audits such as Sarbanes-Oxley 404; information technology audits; Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering; deposit operations; loan reviews; compliance audits, allowance for loan and lease losses (ALLL) reviews; and credit administration.

In addition, he has been involved with a number of external audit engagements for a diverse group of clients. Raul has worked on internal and external audit projects within the financial services and banking industries, assisting management in their preparation for GLBA compliance, and performing attest work over IT General Controls and financial process controls.

Raul has experience with BSA/AML and OFAC/sanction screening Model Validations and verifies that BSA models are performing as intended to meet with the Bank’s objectives. He ensures that they are performed in accordance with OCC 2011-12 and FRB SR 11-7. He has also performed BSA/AML and OFAC Risk Assessments in accordance with the FFIEC manual.

In addition, he has helped banks verify compliance with BSA and related regulatory matters by providing independent Look-back reviews as ordered by regulatory authorities such as: Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Operating and Florida Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) and Federal Reserve. He has also performed full-scope BSA audits.

Raul stays abreast of current topics relating to public accounting and financial institutions by frequenting conferences and training seminars hosted by the Florida International Bankers Association, Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, and the South Florida Banking Institute. He also participates in PAAST’s annual BSA/AML and Compliance Seminar.
